Dr. Ray Sheppard, Ed.D.

Dr. Ray Sheppard is an accomplished educator and administrator who has dedicated his career to teaching and supporting students in the field of higher education. Born and raised in Fayetteville, N.C., he has a deep passion for history, higher education, and religious studies.

Dr. Sheppard embarked on his academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNC Pembroke). He continued his pursuit of knowledge with a Master of Arts in Religion, and further honed his expertise with a Master of Arts in History Education. His commitment to education and leadership is evident through his completion of an Ed.D. from Abilene Christian University.

For over a decade, Dr. Sheppard has been a cornerstone of the academic community at Bladen Community College, where he has been instrumental in shaping the educational experiences of countless students. He has shared his wealth of knowledge and expertise by teaching American history and government, instilling a deep appreciation for the country’s past and the principles of governance. In addition to his teaching role, he has taken on the position of Director of Student Resources and Distance Learning, emphasizing the importance of providing comprehensive support and accessible education to all students.

Dr. Sheppard’s dedication to the field of education and his commitment to fostering student success make him an invaluable asset to both Bladen Community College and the broader academic community. His multifaceted background, encompassing history, religion, and sociology, enriches the learning experiences of his students and demonstrates his passion for empowering the next generation of leaders.
